Surrogacy in Georgia is legal for married and unmarried heterosexual couples. Surrogacy in Belarus is possible for married heterosexual couples and single women.
Children born through surrogacy in Georgia will not usually be granted the Georgian citizenship. Rather the child will get the citizenship of their parent’s country. Nevertheless if the consulate of the parents refuses to grant the newborn the citizenship of his or her parents, the Georgian authorities will grant the Georgian citizenship.
The child’s birth certificate is issued approximately one week after the birth. The authorities will list the Intended Parents (also the Intended Mother) as legal parents on the birth certificate.
